As a Welder at Trinity, you’ll build utility structures that can be seen across the country. You’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders and manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. The Welder also inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment.



In this Welder Trainee position, you will:


Welds metal parts together to fabricate or repair products according to layout, blueprints, or work orders

  • Perform flat groove welds and horizontal fillet welds
  • Comply with all safety rules and procedures
  • Maintain and complete all required records
  • Prepare and align metal product for welding
  • Tack and grind
  • Operate drills
  • Operates tools (Pneumatic, rose bud)
  • Performs other duties as assigned


What you will need: 

  • Minimum of 3 months in any of the following:
    • Working in a position that requires hand eye coordination
    • Completion of technical school classes (Welding, Construction, Painting, etc.)
    • Completion of technical school program
    • Read a tape measure 

  • Ability to perform the following after training:
    • Set up and weld in almost all welding positions
    • Ability to read, understand and follow weld procedures
    • Ability to back gouge and perform weld and repair
    • Troubleshooting machines
    • Operate tools (Pneumatic, rose bud)
    • Pass FCAW 1G test
