Trinity Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Market Development Engineer in our Memphis, TN office! We welcome your ideas and your outstanding work ethic.
This role is primarily responsible for the selling of Trinity products and services to end-user customers in assigned geographic, territory, industry or accounts. Responsible for developing customers and their satisfaction. Represents the company to the customer and the customer to the company in all sales-oriented activities.
Key member of the BU Sales and Marketing team – serving alliance customers, preparing competitive bids, developing market opportunities, and managing large and complex project orders. Incumbent is expected to build business development skills in combination with technical skills, and thus will work with a variety of customers across the country.
Works with Market Development Managers, Direct Sales personnel, independent sales representatives, and others to align overall business goals with sales strategies. Researches, recommends and implements ways to improve success rate in qualifying for and successfully bidding on business opportunities.
Performs tasks that require sound organizational and interpersonal skills, often under deadline pressure. Exercises independent judgment and utilizes decision-making skills in daily business operations with associates, clients, prospects, and vendors. This position requires strong technical and interpersonal skills; commitment to teamwork and interdependency; the ability to balance business objectives with job details; ability to prioritize tasks; excellent administrative, organizational, and computer skills; excellent oral and written communication skills, and a willingness to learn. Skills required to lead organization in the development of strategic proposals, manage large project orders to successful completion, and add value to alliance customer accounts.
- Manages large / complex orders to completion and helps lead individuals internally and externally to ensure a successful and profitable project
- Administers quotations in Jobscope
- Helps manage key customer accounts and participates with Market Development Managers and other sales personnel to foster better communication, achieve goals, add and document value, and grow existing business for said accounts
- Prepares Fast Track drawings
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives including tracking metrics, continuous improvement of processes, process development and improvement activities
- Analyzes alliance customer accounts, bid customers and competitor information in order to maximize revenue and profitability
- Supports Market Development Managers in field sales
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of the steel transmission structure industry, including market trends, competitors, and current technology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to travel at times
- Excellent interpersonal skills – proven abilities with in-person and remote customer contact
- Ability to listen and execute assignments effectively and efficiently
- Strong computer skills – Jobscope, Word and Excel especially
- Able to build and maintain effective professional relationships
- Able to consistently practice communication to resolve conflict and address issues with both internal and external business contacts
- Must be able to help develop effective sales strategies for proposals and have presentation skills
- Must be able to set priorities and manage work to meet deadlines and commitments
- Must be proactive, apply an appropriate sense of urgency to situations, and be able to effectively perform work duties with minimal supervision
- Able to work simultaneously on multiple tasks with attention to detail and quality
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of people and work styles, in stressful, ambiguous situations
- Able to identify, develop, and implement improvements in business processes and practices while exercising sound judgment
- Must exhibit efficiency and results orientation, be well-organized, team-oriented, dependable, innovative, adaptable, and self-motivated
