Railcar Welder 1 (Trainee w/experience)
TrinityRail Maintenance Services is searching for a 2nd Shift Welder 1 (Trainee w/ Experience) in our Jonesboro, AR plant. We provide a complete array of railcar maintenance Services.
As a Welder 1 trainee you will be using jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics or work orders and uses welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts using weldable materials. You will also Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment.
What you’ll do:
- Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts using weldable materials.
- Complete 1-2 week training in GMAW, FCAW, Torch, Grinder, and Air carbon arc gouging before being moved into welder 2 position.
- Some technical knowledge required
- Requires basic skills to perform routine tasks
- Works on routine manufacturing assignments that have clear goals and standard procedures
- Receives detailed instructions and close supervision
- Learns job skills, company policies and processes to do routine tasks
- Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures
- May need to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty
- Problems are not very complex and do not need a lot of judgment
- Allows higher levels to handle more complex issues
- Serves as team member
- Qualifies in FCAW and GMAW welding processes
- Oxy Fuel, Carbon arc, and Plasma cutting
- Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need:
•Minimum of 1 years of related welding experience or completion of welding technical certification.
•Once hired must complete 1-2 week training in GMAW, FCAW, Torch, Grinder, and Air carbon arc gouging to show ability to meet the requirements to transition into welder 2 position.
•100% Attendance highly recommended for completion of training program.
•Basic knowledge of hand tools
•The ability to read and follow written instructions.
•Must be able to train in Weld School on 1st shift for 2-3 weeks and be able to accept an offer for a day or night shift position.
•Most positions will be transitioned over to our 2nd shift openings (Shift Starts at 6pm, 10-12 hour shifts, Sunday night through Thursday night, with some Friday nights). Limited availability will be available for day shift positions after training.
