Trinity Cryogenics (Alloy Custom Products) is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Quality Control Department Manager in our Lafayette, IN office! We welcome your ideas and your outstanding work ethic.
In this role you will manage the Quality Control Department designed to ensure continuous quality production of ASME tanks and trailers, consistent with established customer specifications and corporate standards. Experience working with teams and maintaining cooperation and compliance with manufacturing/engineering. Work with the Compliance team to ensure adherence to all government regulations, state requirements and Trinity requirements. Must be able to read and interpret customer specifications and advise management team on quality manufacturing capabilities based on the specifications. Supervise a team of quality control inspectors.
- Train and coach shop or floor level inspectors and monitor compliance for quality and manufacturing operations.
- Manage/resolve non-corrective and preventative actions.
- Formulate, document and maintain quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives.
- Coordinate quality objectives with production processes to maximize efficiency and reduce defects.
- Ensure that all inspection and testing comply with the quality procedures and work instructions.
- complete inspection records and reports and follows appropriate codes and regulations.
- Project Management - New Product Introduction/First Article Inspection
- Supervise NDT examinations in (RT,PT &UT) to verify structural defects in welding and materials.
- Write and establish Quality standard work and procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills; ability to work with others efficiently and effectively both one-on-one and as a part of a team/group.
- Above average communications skills, both verbal and written, across all levels and ability to function in team environment.
- Emphasis on quality and high attention to detail.
- Knowledge of ASME rules and coordination of Hold Points with Authorized Inspector and manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret and evaluate engineering drawings and regulatory codes.
- Able to qualify as a Radiation Safety Officer.
- Knowledge of calibration requirements, use of inspection tools and measuring equipment and the ability to instruct in proper use.
- Previous work with audits to ensure product compliance with corresponding specifications/standards.
- Experience with writing quality procedures and training operators.
- Problem analysis, resolution skills and root cause implementation.
- Good working knowledge of computers and computer applications (Microsoft programs )
- Engineering or previous quality management experience.
- Graduate of a specialized NDT technical program meeting SNT-TC-1A for the following (radio-graphic, ultrasonic, testing and dye penetrate)
- Level II qualified RT/UT/PT
- Certified to conduct and approve 2 NDT quality tests (dye penetrate, x-ray)
- Possesses functional knowledge in all forms of NDT
- Completion of a 40 hours Radiation Safety Course
- Welding experience or CWI (certified weld instructor)
- Working knowledge of ASME, AWS, ASTM and other standard Quality assurance programs.
- Familiar with use of travelers to meet customer and ASME code requirements.
- Considerable knowledge of manufacturing process and practices in hot and cold metal working operations.
- DOT cargo tank inspections experience
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen techniques.
