In this role, the Pattern Technician:
- Lays out, fabricates, machines, fits and assembles metal/plastic/wood materials to make foundry patterns and core boxes.
- Inspect all equipment used daily for proper working condition.
- Observes all standard safety practices.
- Maintains and completes all required records.
- Studies blueprints, plans sequence of operations and fabricates core boxes and patterns from wood, plastic and metal materials.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, drill presses, grinders, boring mills, to fabricate parts for pattern/core boxes to specifications.
- Measures, mixes and pours resins to fabricate plastic core boxes and patterns.
- Assembles, fits and hand finishes pattern using hand tools.
- Verifies conformance of core box/pattern to blueprint specifications and quality assurance standards using micrometers, calipers and vernier gauges.
- Makes alterations, repairs to core boxes/patterns by hand in shop or production department.
- Makes templates for layout and inspection.
- May perform other duties as necessary.
What you will need:
- Minimum of 6 months experience
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measuring.
- Ability to use measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers etc.
- Predictable and regular attendance is required.
- Ability to function as a team member, establish and maintain effective working relationships.
