The market intelligence analyst will utilize TrinityRail internal sources and external sources to track and analyze markets impacting TrinityRail products and services. The analyst will provide analytic marketing research support to groups in sales, marketing, and business planning. They will access, verify, and organize market trend, competitive intelligence, and sales data. The analyst will regularly contribute to TrinityRail Market Analysis and Development team products. This position will also require a candidate to perform ad hoc research projects on market trends and locate data on current events and determine how they will impact TrinityRail’s business.

Tasks

• Continually research markets and current events

• Prepare reports which interpret market conditions and trends and forecast demand for types/style of products

• Write brief summaries of market trends and articulate their relevance

• Assist in the writing, editing and publication of periodic Market Analysis and Development products

• Track TrinityRail economic indicators

• Collect information on potential and current customers

• Coordinate with colleagues to ensure industry and market data are organized and updated

• Maintain department SharePoint site

• Attend industry conferences to uncover relevant information

• B.A. in business, economics, statistics, political science, history or liberal arts discipline

• 0-2 years of experience

• Highly analytical

• Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions

• Can work independently or with small groups

• Applies in-depth job knowledge to a wide range of multiple or complex tasks

• Excellent communication skills, oral and written

• Motivated, self-starter

• Extensive experience with Microsoft suite, especially Excel and Publisher

• Experience working with SharePoint

• Experience with Tableau and/or R Studio a plus
