Assembles mechanical units, fabricated parts/components subassemblies, assemblies or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment. Fits, aligns, calibrates and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements; repairing units or products that have failed to meet requirements. Assembles fabricated parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies or complete units. May set up jigs and fixtures. Lays out reference points, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of metal or fiberglass mold according to blueprint and layout specifications fabrication. May fabricate parts as required. Uses hand tools, portable tools, hoists and cranes to move materials, parts and assemblies. Follows all safety rules and practices. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
· May be used for the new hire or trainee who has no experience
· Requires basic skill, routine tasks and very little training
· Works on routine manufacturing assignments that have clear goals and standard procedures
· Receives detailed instructions and close supervision
· Learns job skills, company policies and processes to do routine tasks
· Limited or no technical knowledge required
· Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures
· May need to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty
· Uses standard approaches
· Problems are not very complex and do not need a lot of judgment
· Allows higher levels to handle more complex issues
· Serves as a team member
· Mechanical fastening (bolts, nuts, hucks)
- Must be competent with the use of basic hand tools including a tape measure
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be a team player
