Our machine operators are part of a team that’s motivated to do a great job. As a Machinist Operator at Trinity Industries, you’ll set up and operate production machines to cut, bend, straighten, or form parts as specified by blueprints, lay up sequence, and/or templates.

 

Trinity Industries’ Axle Forging business is an advanced manufacturer of freight car, passenger car, subway, and locomotive axles and circular forgings. We use state-of-the-art technology that features electronically controlled heating and treating furnaces to machine our products.

 

1st Shift: Monday - Thursday 5:00 am -3:30 pm

 

What you’ll do:

  • Sets up and operates a Landis axle grinder
  • Loads material for processing 
  • Reads micrometers, surface indicators, and temperature-compensating gauges.
  • Reads blueprints, adjust machines for dimensional requirements.
  • Cuts parts. 
  • Work under limited supervision
  • Follow all safety rules and practices
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:

  • Minimum of one to three months experience of previous CNC equipment experience
  • Must have knowledge of the use of axle grinding equipment
  • The ability to read detailed specifications
  • Ability to work to precision tolerances within .0001”
  • Capable of setting up and operating conventional equipment with multiple processes/turns.
  • Possesses some knowledge of shop math.
  • Predictable, regular attendance is required. 
  • Ability to function as a team member.
