The IT Production Control Engineer  is responsible for controlling changes to the production environment with a particular specialty in Microsoft Middleware technologies like SQL and IIS. This position operates under a software defined data center using advanced VMWare NSX fabric. The selected candidate will be a member of a cross-functional production control team responsible for maintaining stability within a virtualized data center infrastructure.

 

Responsibilities:

• Serve as team subject matter expert for SQL and IIS technologies.

• Integrate heavily with the Development Database Administrators (DBA) on projects.

• Operate and maintain VMWare environment including vCenter, vSphere, NSX, and vRealize.

• Administer and control Microsoft Active Directory structure.

• Coordinate to ensure IIS and SQL are appropriately backed up according to Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and test backups to ensure we can meet the business’ Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).

• Work with proactive monitoring team to ensure IIS and SQL monitoring is in place and false alarms are minimized.

• Install and configure SQL and IIS middleware in adherence with Microsoft best practices and established corporate standards.

• Deploy change scripts provided by development teams and third party vendors.

• When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance.

• Maintain the company’s web and database environment documentation.

• Diagnose and resolve web and database server reliability and performance issues.

• Responsible for the operation and administration of IIS and SQL across pre-production and production environments.

• Act as an escalation point for IIS and SQL issues within the pre-production and production environments. Troubleshoot the issues as they occur, including after-hours and weekends.

 

Requirements:

• 5 or more years combined experience in Information Technology Infrastructure

• Microsoft and VMWare certifications highly desired.

• Experience in an enterprise environment.

• Firm understanding of SQL and associated technologies (i.e. clustering, availability groups, etc).

• Firm understanding of IIS and how it relates to other technologies such as DNS.

• Experience with VMWare products.

• Accuracy and attention to detail in all situations, endeavors, and assigned tasks.

• Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
