In this role, the Electrical Technician will:
- Perform duties under the general direction of a Maintenance Supervisor.
- Work independently to perform maintenance, repair, and/or modification of the plant’s computer driven control systems and the plant’s mechanical and electrical systems.
- Be involved in fabrication, application, installation and repair of mechanical and electromechanical equipment, the installation of electrical conduit and machine/building wiring.
- Adhere to all safety programs and policies.
- Do day to day trouble shooting, repair and installation of low and high voltage (single/three phase) industrial electromechanical & control systems.
- Work independently in troubleshooting and repair problems with Programmable Logic Controllers and related components when required.
- Examine and test components and support systems to ensure that they are in compliance with all standards and regulations.
- Be able to obtain back-up PLC programs to reload and reboot PLC programs to restore faulted equipment.
- Interact with equipment operators and maintenance staff to ascertain problems with equipment.
- Disassemble, replace, or repair mechanical and electrical components.
- Test and calibrate electrical/electronic systems and components to ensure that they are operating properly or locate defects.
- Utilize technical materials such as equipment manuals, MSDS, safety materials, system drawings, Process and instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s), schematics and blueprints to troubleshoot and maintain systems.
- Devise, set up and operate electronic instrumentation and related electro mechanical or electro pneumatic/hydraulic apparatus used for operation of mechanical or electrical equipment or drives.

- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; ability to use senses to diagnose and troubleshoot problems. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift/or move up to 80 pounds.
What you will need:
- High school diploma required; associates degree or equivalent preferred. Two to three years and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Be able to read, interpret, and modify electrical prints and schematics and document all self-created changes.
- Complete understanding of Plant electrical systems, including DC voltage and AC voltage from 24V to 480V.
- Complete understanding of relay and discrete device control systems.
- Proficiency in electrical installations with conduit and wiring practices.
- Experience using sensing and control devices.
- Experience using both DC and AC motors, VF Drives and Servo Controlled Systems (Siemens preferred).
- Must fully understand and adhere to the ARC Flash & electrical shock prevention policy.
