The ideal Division EH&S Manager candidate will manage the Environmental, Health and Safety function to enable general and functional management to meet Trinity’s Environmental management policy. Manages a team of individual contributors responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring safety and environmental programs, processes and policies to safeguard employees, the general public and to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform internal Business Unit Safety Audits in order to determine compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. Prepare reports based on audit findings that communicate deficiencies and corrective actions
- Assist the Corporate Safety Department in identifying loss trends; strategically prioritize corrective measures based on sound statistical analysis
- Act as a subject matter resource on all areas relating to Trinity Corporate Safety Standards
- Prepares and maintains reports related to facility’s safety and environmental conditions in compliance with Trinity Corporate and regulatory requirements
- Act as a resource to Plant Safety Managers on proper safety practices and techniques
- Evaluate training needs of Plant Safety Managers to enable effective operation of the established safety systems
- Responds as a Business Unit Safety resource to workplace safety or security emergencies and issues
- Conducts position duties in an organized and orderly manner. Sets priorities and meets commitments and deadlines
- Able to refine communication based on the audience using active listening skills and non-verbal skills effectively. Is effective in communicating a message to both small and large groups
- Work with facilities to help them achieve a performance based safety and health program instead of a compliance based program. This includes helping plants implement behavior based safety programs, effective safety committees, better training modules and working towards OSHA VPP STAR equivalency using the Trinity Safety Management System
- Keeps the Business Unit management team informed of safety / environmental concerns
- Act as a resource to Plant Safety Managers on proper safety practices and techniques
- Evaluate training needs of Plant Safety Managers to enable effective operation of the established safety systems
- Responds as a Business Unit Safety resource to workplace safety or security emergencies and issues
Requirements:
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA Federal regulations relative to safety, health, and environmental issues
- Good knowledge of manufacturing and division operations, or the ability to acquire it quickly
- Accuracy in MS Office applications
- Ability to obtain and analyze data
- Ability to maintain accurate reports and generate complete, timely reports

B.S./B.A degree in occupational health and safety, or equivalent experience

5+ years related experience as a Safety Manager in a steel manufacturing facility

Multi-site management experience preferred

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation strongly desired
