Career Pipe Welder
In this role you will use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics or work orders and uses manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment. Welds together pipe parts using semi-automatic, automatic and manual welding processes according to blueprint and layout specifications. Lays out complex assignments and welds in all positions. Ensures that welds conform to ASME and DOT standards. Work requires the ability to read blueprints , detail drawings and have a knowledge of shop mathematics (including geometry). Must be able to weld in all positions. Inspects finished welds. Completes all required records. Follows all safety rules and practices. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
- TIG on Stainless steel experience
- May be used for employees who have some experience but are still in the “learning” mode
- Works on semi-routine assignments
- Requires help from supervisors or others to complete new tasks
- Analysis and actions require instruction from higher levels
- Good knowledge of the job, company policies and processes
- Applies job skills to complete semi-routine tasks
- Some understanding of the technical aspects of the job
- Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures
- Few judgment calls
- Recognizes when it is necessary to stray from standard procedures and consults with higher levels before doing so
- Welds in all positions
- Identifies and performs appropriate weld per specifications
- Performs MIG or Stik welding
- May weld on carbon, stainless or aluminum
- Serves as a team member
