- Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints, or other drawings.
- Performs operational tests on newly installed, modified, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specifications.
- Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings.
- Operates mechanical equipment, including milling machines and lathes, to produce metal parts for purposes of repairing machinery parts, reverse engineering and creating new parts. Prepares by checking specifications and blueprints, calculating how to shape the material, and setting equipment controls.
- Monitors speed and heat of machining equipment.
- Constructs, installs, and repairs shop tools, jigs, or dies, or for the facility.
- Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
- Follows all safety rules and practices.
- May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- At least 2 years of machining experience is preferred
- Ability to cut and weld is beneficial
- Able to read blueprints and follow specifications
- Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment is ideal
- Previous experience in rail or steel manufacturing industry is a plus!
