Career Heavy Assembler - Plant 19
TrinityRail OEM is searching for a talented team player to fill the open position of Heavy Assembler 2 in our Longview, TX plant 1019!
Tasks to perform as a Heavy Assembler include the following: Assembles mechanical units, fabricated parts/components subassemblies, assemblies or complete units using hand tools, power tools, jigs, fixtures and miscellaneous equipment. Fits, aligns, calibrates and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product operating requirements; repairing units or products that have failed to meet requirements. Assembles fabricated parts to relatively large or heavy subassemblies or complete units. May set up jigs and fixtures. Lays out reference points, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of metal or fiberglass mold according to blueprint and layout specifications fabrication. May fabricate parts as required. Uses hand tools, portable tools, hoists and cranes to move materials, parts and assemblies. Follows all safety rules and practices. May be involved in safety committees or initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be used for employees who have some experience but are still in the “learning” mode
- Works on semi-routine assignments
- Requires help from supervisors or others to complete new tasks
- Analysis and actions require instruction from higher levels
- Good knowledge of the job, company policies and processes
- Applies job skills to complete semi-routine tasks
- Some understanding of the technical aspects of the job
- Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures
- Few judgment calls
- Recognizes when it is necessary to stray from standard procedures and consults with higher levels before doing so
- Serves as a team member
- Mechanical fastening (bolts, nuts, hucks)
- Applies appropriate torque sequence and values (certified)
- Reads blueprints
- Operates overhead cranes
- May use hand tools to bend or form parts

May require working above ground (15ft or more)
- Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights
- May require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of time
- Tasks may require physical strength and dexterity
- May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time
- 1-2 years of related assembly experience
- Previous experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or construction environment is beneficial
- Previous experience in rail or steel manufacturing industry is a plus!
