- Work is somewhat complex
- Requires little or no help from supervisors or others to complete assigned tasks after completion of training/mentoring period
- Requires basic to moderate understanding of the metallurgical effects of steel as a result of the welding/joining processes
- Complete understanding of the job role, company policies, and processes
- Applies previous welding experience/skills to complete a wide range of tasks regarding thermal treatments
- Will operate specialized equipment, understand and interpret drawings/diagrams, and have basic computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel)
- Will need to complete intensive formal training (Classroom training and Practical application)
- Maintains technical certificates as required
- Work requires extensive planning, attention to detail, and use of good judgment
- Determines and develops approaches to solve a broad range of complex problems that can potentially occur with the thermal treatment process
- May serve as a problem-solving resource to others
- Will be trained and operate within confined spaces frequently
- Will have an attendance policy to adhere to
- Must have good communication skills
- Must be a team player
- Must be competent with the use of basic hand tools including a tape measure
- Must be open to learning and suggesting new approaches and techniques with the heat treatment process
- Knowledge of Coatings process a plus
